Don’t look now, but it’s just about time when Disney will open phase 1 of the larger-than-life Fantasyland expansion. Storybook Circus will open in late March with the relocated Dumbo (1 Dumbo spinner), Great Goofini rollercoaster, and the new train station all available for guests to enjoy. Disney is continuing its tradition of immersing guests into the story and the Fantasyland expansion is no exception. Part of the theming and story are the Cast Member costumes. Walt Disney Imagineering recently released a video glimpse about the costumes that will be worn by Cast Members in each area of the Fantasyland expansion. Check out this video for a sneak peak at what to expect when each Fantasyland area opens to guests in 2012 and 2013.
Don’t expect to see Cast Members wearing these costumes outside of their respective Fantasyland areas. As usual, these Cast Members will be using the utilidor system (1st floor) underneath the Magic Kingdom park to go in and out of Fantasyland. You should never see a Cast Member wearing a Fantasyland costume in Frontierland or Tomorrowland. Disney considers this “bad show” and frowns upon themes clashing with each other. Expect more news about the Fantasyland expansion in the near future. Until then, let the fanfare and hoopla begin as phase 1 of the expanded Fantasyland opens later this month.
