Rock n’ Glow Dance Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

I finally had the chance to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see the Rock n’ Glow party the other night. This is part of Summer Nightastic at Walt Disney World through August 14, 2010. No need to get a spot early for this party, there was plenty of room for everyone to dance and meet the characters.

The party starts after the nightly American Idol finale show. When we arrived there were lots of people watching the show on the giant TV outside the attraction. The performers were setting up and started to play when the American Idol show was over. The party happens on Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday. You should check the Times Guide for the party times.

The stage is in front of the iconic Sorcerer Mickey hat on Hollywood Boulevard. The DJ started off the party by having everyone do the cha cha slide. Then he moved into several other songs to get the crowd dancing. During the music several of the Disney characters mingled in the crowd for pictures and they danced along. We saw Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale.

Finally the group Mulch, Sweat & Shears took the stage. The lead singer did a great job working the crowd when he came down off the stage. He had the guests singing along with him. You can find them performing in the park other times by checking the Times Guide.  The party will also have guest bands performing.

If you are here in Walt Disney World this summer you should add this to your list of things to do. We had a great time! Disney knows how to party.
