[...] Richard and his brother Robert B. Sherman not only co-wrote music for Disney Parks, but they worked extensively on musical film scores such as The Jungle Book (1967), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ( 1968 ), the Aristocats (1970), …. When “ Carousel of Progress” opened in Walt Disney World in 1975, it opened with a new song “The Best Time of Your Life ”.
Great blog, Dave! I'd heard some of this before, but the interview is chock full of new information to me--like how the music for the Carousel of Progress needed to span genres. And the bit about Disney's secretary & her advice to let Walt make up his own mind about Julie Andrews sounds just like the man (from all the bios I've read). You've really captured Sherman's storytelling genius here!

My wife is a huge Disney music fan (especially the Sherman Brothers) and she absolutely loved the interview. What a genuinely positive guy. Great job!
