I ran across your article in the process of writing my own. I appreciate the detail you gave to the ESPN WWoS changes across the complex. I can see why these things might be viewed as key to a more immersive experience for the targeted demographic.

With more bus transportation between All Star, Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach resorts and WWoS, it seems that Disney is setting them up as preferred accommodations for events. Stitch Kingdom (sorry can't figure out how to do links in the comment box) is reporting no more bus transportation from DHS, so I speculate Disney is bent on making WWoS its own destination.

So I guess, like you, I'm interested to see how everything turns out. I'd like to see more pro (European) football, but that's me. Youth events are good ways to keep the Disney & ESPN brands relevant for families for whom a straight-up theme-park trip or an entirely sports-related vacation might not be a big draw.

And the move is intended to help build lifelong, brand-loyal consumers out of the youth participants, of course.

So...smart strategy, a natural fit between the complex and ESPN. I think it should work, so long as WWoS's events don't unduly affect the rest of WDW's operation. I'll be watching to see how they maintain a balance.

While I understand and appreciate Disney's need to attract more bodies to it's WDW campus, I have not heard good things about the visiting sports teams staying there. They, particularly the Pop Warner football groups and the cheerleading competitors, seem to cause lots of problems for other guests there to enjoy the parks and resorts. If the numbers of sports groups increases, I, and I'm sure lots of others, will start to look elsewhere to spend our vacation time and money.
