My DW and I dined at Sanaa for dinner on Friday night with friends. Based on our experience, Kevin's review is "right on".

Our server told us that the spices had been toned down for a broader appeal. There were few items that appealed to me. I finally settled on the NY Strip steak with a spinach mushroom pancake. The latter was not good at all. The steak was salty and not one I would order again.

We shared the cauliflower containing appetizer that Kevin describes and were not impressed. All portion sizes were small.

The only food that was appealing to us was the dessert, a "chocolate" cake that looked like vanilla wafers and had a faint choclate taste. The others listed appealed to no one in our party of four.

The restaurant is quite dark. Once the sun goes down, one can barely read the menu. The only light was from a small votive type candle. Two of us were lucky in that we were able to lean into a faint overhead light to read it.

Getting to Sanaa is not easy unless you have a car. We were staying at Jambo House. WDW buses stop at Kidani first then at Jambo while we were there. It is possible to walk, but it is a looong walk - .5 to 1 mile. We drove and met our friends in the lobby which is beautiful and has a wonderful view of a savannah, but it is much smaller that the AKL Jambo lobby.

Next time, we are going back to Boma or Tusker House. I think Sanaa may have to revise their menu in order to survive. One advantage that it has is that it is the ONLY restaurant at Kidani. There is no counter service at all.

i was excited to try this. Restaurant looked great and I liked it wasnt very big. But, overall we were disappointed mostly with portion size. We have dined at both Jiko's and Boma's in the past as well. I thought the 3 pieces of bread were sort of cheap for the $9 charged or so. I would have thought the money was in the dips which were all pretty good. I think at least most WDW restaurants give bread for free--ok so this is special? so why the high price?

I also had the Tandoori Chicken which was a little small as well--not bad but lacking a genuine tandoori taste.

With so many choices not sure if I'd return (something I am not sure I have said of very few WDW rest's)

The restaurant and the views are absolutely stunning. I'm glad Disney really took the time to get this whole DVC section right. I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the food though. I also heard it would be "family style" and visons of Ohana's came to mind (my favorite restaurant!)I never understood why there aren't more family style restaurants attached to the DVC resorts. DVC is meant for friends and family to be able to be together, and what better way to discuss your day at the parks than when you are passing around bowls of delicious food. I'm currently plannng my 2010 trip to the Villas at AKL, so I might have to gve it a try. Thanks for the review, we usually have similar experiences.

I'm really excited about this place and plan to visit when I stay at Kidani Village in January. I really like spicy, ethnic food (especially Indian) and I'm glad that there will finally be a choice like that avaialable at Disney. I hope they don't tone down the menu before January "due to guest demand".

The chick pea, tomato, and cucumber salad looks delicious. I want to find a recipe. Thanks for the review!

Like many in the UK who enjoy curries there are aspects to this that really appeal.
The setting, watching the animals makes it an even better choice.
Great review Kevin.
